Finally My first post I always wanted to make an account in Audizine but school never gave me a chance to do so, Anyway, I have been dealing (for a month now) with the P0706 code on my 2003 A4 1.8T Q, it's a 5speed Auto, it's stuck in limp mode, all the PRNDS are on as a red bar, and the car only moves in revers and 4th gear.

I would like to change the Neutral Safety Switch for this engine but i cant find it where is located. I know its cover with something but dont know where to look. When I read the code it is P0706. I know it is transmission range sensor circuit - range/performance. I searched here and found a few ideas but most of the threads were inconclusive. I pulled up the carpet on passenger side and found it wet but not flooded.

Special Notes

  • When found in 6-Speed Automatic Transmission (01J/Multitronic), the Transmission Range Sensor (F125) is part of the Transmission Control Module (J217)!
    • Check Measuring Value Block (MVB) 002 for Plausibility
    • Check all four Hall Sensor(s) / Magnets
    • Check Selector Shaft Magnet(s) for Damage
    • Check/Replace Transmission Control Module (J217)
